The Rebellion Starts with a Workstation.

Workstation Rebellion is building an AI — currently named Lore — where all information, including sensitive data, stays close to the owner. Everything runs on your own server. Even possible without an internet connection.

AI should not only give good answers. It should also show what is happening, which information is being used, what is and isn’t allowed — and why. This is becoming increasingly important as AI grows more powerful, but also more centralised, expensive, and difficult to control.

For many applications, that’s fine. But when sensitive knowledge, decisions, evidence, or actions are at stake, you don’t want to rely solely on a black box in the cloud. Think of healthcare, defence, government, education, corporate knowledge, and finance.

Why Now?

1. AI is becoming less transparent while the stakes are rising.
Much of AI runs via large external models. Convenient, but not always desirable when sensitive knowledge, decisions, or actions are involved.

2. Rules and expectations are tightening.
The EU AI Act and broader market developments make it increasingly important for organisations to explain how AI is used, what boundaries exist, and what evidence is available. This is a clear direction in which the market is moving.

3. The dominant AI route is extremely capital-intensive.
The largest AI companies build with billions. Workstation Rebellion is exploring a different route: small, focused, local — with control and evidence from the start. An R&D thesis, not a proven cost advantage.

1. What Workstation Rebellion Is

Workstation Rebellion is a Dutch R&D lab developing local, explainable, and governed neuro-symbolic AI systems. The lab is not trying to copy a frontier AI lab at a smaller scale. It follows a different route: AI systems in which state, decisions, evidence, and authority can be made more explicit, more inspectable, and less dependent on centralised cloud infrastructure.

AI should be able to become more local, more explainable, and better governable where authority matters.

This is an R&D direction, not a claim that Lore is already a finished product, trained system, certified system, or commercially validated deployment.

2. Why This Route Matters

Data and runtime behaviour should be able to stay closer to the owner where useful.
Governance should be part of the system, not just a policy document around it.
Evidence should be produced by the architecture, not reconstructed after the fact.
Learning should be governed before it becomes authority.
Serious AI R&D should not require copying the capital structure of frontier labs.

3. What Lore Is at a High Level

Lore is the first runtime/product direction of Workstation Rebellion: a system route in which perception, reasoning, memory, learning, and action are not treated as a single opaque model behaviour, but as components of a governed architecture. Local where useful, explainable by architecture, and governed before action or learning becomes authority.

Technical details will be shared in an NDA-covered follow-up.

4. Founder and Lab Context

Workstation Rebellion is founder-led R&D. The founder’s background combines creative synthesis, product realism, and deep practical exposure to generative AI. Before Workstation Rebellion, the founder built Beerenberg — personal funeral caskets and related products — from 2014 to 2024. That experience is about real product constraints, customer clarity, sector friction, and sustained perseverance in a conservative field.

5. Why This May Be Relevant for an Investor

A differentiated AI R&D thesis.
A first concrete runtime/product direction in Lore.
A strong reason to protect technical IP before deeper disclosure.
A disciplined claim boundary around what has and has not yet been proven.
A path toward a small focused lab rather than a frontier-scale capital structure.

The stronger claims still need to be earned. Workstation Rebellion currently claims no product readiness, deployment readiness, certification, commercial validation, or defined investor return structure.
