Fager Michael Loose Ring Sweet Iron;
The joints are rotated away from the tongue, creating a softer, smoother pressure on the tongue. This can be beneficial for horses that overreact when you take up the reins and require constant contact during every movement.
- Can be restless in the mouth, but too stiff on straight bits
- Does not like to relax into the bit
- Needs encouragement to seek contact and maintain consistent contact
- May overreact when you take up the reins.
- Inconsistent rein contact ("on/off")
- Available in sizes: 105 mm / 115 mm / 125 mm / 135 mm / 145 mm
Michael's mouthpiece provides tongue relief and locks upwards, making it an excellent bit for horses with a low palate and sensitive tongues. The bit does not lock forward like a regular locking bit, meaning you won't experience the stiff feeling of a straight bit.
This bit can also be tested during a bit fitting and/or bridle fitting; delivery time for a new bit is approximately 5 working days. It is also available as a test bit.
Sweet Iron is a coating on top of a stainless steel bit. Its purpose is to mask the metallic taste of stainless steel and create a pleasant, sweet taste, encouraging the horse to seek more contact and hold the bit. After use, sweet iron will begin to oxidize and turn brownish-grey. Sweet Iron is a good choice for horses that need to seek more contact with the bit.
Loose Ring;
Fixed rings are attached to the mouthpiece, reducing rein contact with the mouth. Fixed rings encourage a horse to maintain contact with the bit and provide a stable feel for both horse and rider.
