Fager Sally Kimblehook Titanium

Very fine bit for the experienced rider with a strong, but sensitive horse. Often used for show jumpers and horses that quickly become "hot".

Sally's double-jointed mouthpiece has a tongue relief, which alleviates constant pressure. This bit is a good option for horses that can become strong in the contact, lean on the bit where you want a lighter and softer contact in the hand, and have a quicker response when you take up the reins. The Kimblehook applies pressure further down in the mouth, which can help a horse that comes up too high in the neck. Kimblehooks are always used in combination with a curb chain or strap behind the chin.

Together with the Kimblehook cheekpiece, you get a stable, framed feel with more leverage when needed.

The roller is placed lower than the joints to increase pinpoint pressure on the tongue. This creates pressure when your horse pulls or feels heavy in your hand, without applying constant pressure. The roller also gives horses something to play with, perfect for horses that can be unresponsive to the contact.

  • Strong, pulls/leans on the bit.
  • Sensitive tongue, may pull on the reins and play with the tongue.
  • Does not react when you take up the reins.
  • Needs to maintain a lighter feel in the hand with less contact.
  • Can feel strong and heavy, but also needs a controlled feel.
  • Available in sizes: 105 mm / 115 mm / 125 mm / 135 mm / 145 mm

This bit can also be tested during a bit fitting and/or bridle fitting, delivery time for a new bit is approximately 5 working days. It is also available as a test bit.

Please note, horses that are wide at the premolars/teeth may need to go up a size due to the upper shanks. This is because the cheekpiece of the bridle is attached to the upper shank of the bit, which is placed higher where some horses are wider than others.

The Kimblehook can be used with the fixed ring with the option to add leverage when needed. The further down the rein is placed, the more pressure is added and distributed across the chin, poll, and mouth.

Titanium is very lightweight and is a tasteless metal that naturally adapts to the temperature of the mouth, helping the horse accept the bit and feel more comfortable with it.

We generally recommend a titanium bit for horses with sensitive mouths who may react to other metals, e.g., red marks or sores, despite soft contact from the hands.
