The KNHS, yes, the very same organization that hosts equestrian competitions, is now also organizing the Dutch National Hobby Horse Championship, featuring disciplines like dressage, cross-country, and show jumping!
Of course, you'll want to prepare well for Hobby Horse competitions. Whether you're organizing them at home with friends, at your riding club, or even at the Dutch National Hobby Horse Championship.
Hobby Horse competitions consist of different disciplines (sections), and you can choose what you enjoy most. Or, of course, participate in everything ;). You can choose a dressage competition, a show jumping competition, or a freestyle to music. The freestyle to music can even be done with a partner! Hobby Horse competition essentials
Fortunately, you don't need much. Of course, you'll need a Hobby Horse. A Hobby Horse is slightly different from a regular stick horse. The stick of a Hobby Horse is shorter than that of a stick horse, making it easier to move with. With such a long stick, it's much harder to do dressage, and jumping becomes an even more difficult challenge.

Dressage Arena Letters
Wondering how the letters should be placed in a dressage arena? We've created a handy overview and a mnemonic for you. All Farmers Bring Many Cows Home Every Knight. The first letter of these words indicates the positions along the arena edge. A and C are in the middle of the short sides. The X is in the center of the arena.
The additional letters R, P, S, and V can be remembered with the mnemonic: Very Sincere Riders Practice.
