The sweet gold-colored material contains copper, which makes the material somewhat softer. If you have a horse that chews a lot on the bit, this can cause bite marks on the surface. Do not boil this bit and do not wash it with water that is too hot. Due to the copper, the bit can deform due to hot water (above body temperature).
