* Hard (dark green) – for horses that benefit from clearer communication.
- Young or inexperienced horses
Ideal for horses that need to learn to trust the bit, as it promotes acceptance and reduces tension. - Horses that avoid or reject contact
The soft rubber encourages them to seek the bit, which creates a more stable and confident connection. - Horses with a dry or sensitive mouth
The material promotes softness and salivation, which improves comfort and focus. - Rehabilitation or retraining
Ideal for regaining trust or processing bit-related tension or behavioral problems. - Pulling on reins
- Unstable, but strong
- Restless with head
This mouthpiece is slightly thinner in the middle, making it softer on the tongue without excessive pressure on the bars or palate. The shape, combined with the soft material, makes this bit a suitable option for horses with sensitive bars and palate who may feel restless in the mouth and throw their heads up when you take up the reins. This mouthpiece is suitable for a wide range of horses. - Available in sizes: / 105 mm / 115 mm / 125 mm / 135 mm / 145 mm
PLEASE NOTE! TPU material is more durable than most rubber bits, but it can still show signs of wear from horses' teeth if they chew excessively on the bit. Therefore, the bit is not covered by the warranty or the right to claim if the damage is caused by the horse biting on it.
The Fager Nicole Baby Pelham plastic can also be tested during a bit fit and/or bridle fit appointment; delivery time for a new bit is approximately 5 working days. It is also available as a test bit in several variations.
Material
This bit is made of high-quality TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and combines the softness of rubber with the strength and durability required for daily riding. TPU is known for its exceptional flexibility, durability, and safe properties for horses, making it ideal for horses with sensitive mouths and horses that need more stable contact.
Why TPU?
* Mild on the mouth – Soft, rubbery feel that promotes relaxation and trust.
* Highly durable – Resistant to wear, tears, and moisture for long-lasting use.
* Safe and non-toxic – TPU is hygienic, easy to clean, and contains no harmful chemicals.
Baby Pelham;
The side piece of the Baby Pelham provides a stable feel for horses that tend to become unstable but are strong. The Baby Pelham can be used with a regular bridle with one or two reins, one in the large fixed ring and one in the small ring. When using one rein, use an (adjustable) delta strap.
With two reins, one can easily adjust the desired leverage of the bit by shortening or lengthening the rein attached to the lower ring. With more leverage, you get a slightly lower neck and more effect; with less leverage, you can get the horse slightly higher in the neck with less effect. With Fager's adjustable delta strap, you have the same choice without having to use two reins.
Chain and hooks are included.
Please note: Horses that are wide above the premolars/teeth may need a larger size due to the upper shanks. This is because the bridle's cheekpiece attaches to the bit's upper shanks, which are placed higher, where some horses are wider than others.
